Trinity College London Exams at the Flexilearning Centre

The Flexilearning Centre is registered as an exam centre with the Trinity College London to offer recognised certificates internationally as proof of your level of English. These exams are:

Graded Examination in Spoken English, GESE and Integrated Skills in English, ISE.

The Trinity ESOL examinations in English, GESE and ISE, are well-known and respected tests of reading, writing, speaking and listening in English. Many higher education organisations, universities, companies, schools and colleges, internationally recognise these examinations. At the Flexilearning Centre you can sit these to gain a recognised certificate.

The Trinity exam allows you to demonstrate your English language level in real contexts, writing about topics you are likely to need in your studies and in the real world of work and leisure.

1. GESE Exam:

The Trinity ESOL Graded Examination in Spoken English, GESE exam, is available at six levels (A1, A2, B1, B2, C1, C2) on the Common European Framework, CEFR.

There are 12 different grades in the GESE exam, grouped into four levels.

Initial Stage, Grades 1, 2 and 3: These exams are good for students with ‘Basic’ English language ability. They focus on building confidence and motivation in English language communication.

Elementary Stage, Grades 4, 5 and 6: These exams are for students with ‘Elementary’ English language ability. They focus on building confidence and motivation in English language communication.

Intermediate Stage, Grades 7, 8 and 9: These exams are for students with a strong ‘Independent User’ English language ability. At this stage, students are expected to share responsibility for maintaining and developing a conversation in English.

Advanced Stage, Grades 10, 11 and 12: This stage exams are for students with ‘Advanced and Proficient’ English language ability. At these grades, students are expected to understand fully the examiner’s contributions and demonstrate accurate use of a wide variety of complex language. Students need to express themselves spontaneously, fluently, maintain and develop the discussion independently.

2. ISE Exam:

Trinity Integrated Skills in English, ISE exam, is a four-skill qualification. ISE exam assess students’ ability to interact in English in a meaningful way through the use of combined reading and writing tasks and combined speaking and listening tasks.

The exam parts can be taken together or at different times when students are ready. Students must pass all parts to gain a full ISE qualification.

ISE is available at these levels on the Common European Framework, CEFR.
